What if Hitler had not left the building, where the carpenter (and brave resistance fighter) Georg Elser had hidden a bomb, 13 minutes too early? What if it had all ended in 1939?

The Nigardsbreen glacier in Norway was one of the film locations for the Norway-set sci-fi drama “Ex Machina” (2014) starring Alicia Vikaner, Domhnhall Gleeson and Oscar Isaac and here I am standing at the exact same spot as the actors!
-
During my recent guided student group tour in Norway we came, saw and conquered this spectacular glacier before it is too late as it’s melting fast every year due to climate change. Climbing up there was challenging, especially as one person from our group fell into a glacier hole. 😱 Luckily though, we were all connected to each other (literally with ropes) and he is doing fine! 😉 Plus, the view from the top was worth it in the end!

A relaxing fjord cruise is my favourite activity and No. 1 tip for things to do in Norway! -
-
Although most filming for popular TV series Vikings (2013-) was done in Wicklow County, Ireland, some scenes were shot right here in the magnificent Norwegian fjords - the home of the real Vikings! 😉 And me being a huge fan of Viking history (of which I learnt a lot just from watching the series), I felt closer to them here than ever before. Which Vikings-inspired travel destination is on your bucket list?

Long time, no post. But last week’s wonderful trip to Norway gave me tons of new inspiration for my blog, so here is my first travel tip if you ever come to Norway: Go on a fjord cruise! -
-
The drama-comedy “Downsizing” (2017), in which the character of Matt Damon shrinks himself in order to use less of the earth’s resources and basically get more value for his money, was partly filmed in the Norwegian fjords. The spot where I am standing here is not the exact film location because “Downsizing” was shot at the Tysfjord and Trollfjord (Lofoten) and our fjord cruise took us from Gudvangen through the Nærøyfjord (by the way a UNESCO World Heritage Site) to Flåm. But don’t the Norwegian fjords look fantastic wherever you go? Who has been to Norway already or would like to go? Tag a friend that you would like to take with you! 😉

The “Casa di Guiletta” (The House of Julia) is probably the most famous sightseeing highlight in the North Italian city of Verona. Apparently, touching Juliet’s boob will grant you good luck (in love). 😉😂
-
The inner courtyard of Juliet’s house can also be seen as a film location in “Letters to Juliet” (2010). In the story, an aspiring American writer (Amanda Seyfried) tries to find the lost Italian love of an elderly English lady - with her grumpy grandson always in tow.
